Bankstown City Aged Care is thrilled to be involved in The Humour Foundation’s Laughter Care program, which fills our community with joy and connection through the healing power of laughter.
Laughter Care combines the arts and medicine to improve the quality of life for aged care residents. Specially trained performers tailor their approach to meet the unique needs of our residents, including those living with dementia or facing social isolation.
At BCAC, we have had the pleasure of welcoming Laughter Care Specialist, Archie, to our Gillawarna and Yallambee facilities for several years. Dressed in classic 1940s attire, Archie engages with our residents through music, dance, props, stories, improvisation and reminiscence. His warm and empathetic style helps create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages residents to engage, interact and share laughter, while the nostalgic theme helps to evoke cherished memories.
The Laughter Care program has had a profound impact on our residents. It has helped to improve their mood, boost their spirits and create lasting connections with others. Bringing laughter and joy into their lives adds a special touch to their care experience, making it more fulfilling and enriching.
Together, we continue our mission to make a lasting difference in the lives of our residents.
