To honour fathers and grandfathers is about listening to their stories, celebrating their contributions, and ensuring they feel seen, heard, and valued, especially in their later years.
Whether through a Father’s Day BBQ, a quiet moment of reflection, or a photo shared with pride, we carry their legacy forward. We celebrated Father’s Day in September with BBQ’s and High Teas, and we have Grandfather’s Day coming up at the end of October.
Grandfathers hold a special kind of magic. They are bridges between generations, keepers of stories, and often the quiet champions of resilience. Their tales, sometimes embellished, always treasured, connect us to history, culture, and identity.
In aged care, grandfathers become mentors not just to their families but to staff and fellow residents. Their lived experience enriches the environment, offering perspective, patience, and humour. A shared joke, a knowing glance, a story told for the hundredth time – these are cherished gifts to last a lifetime and beyond.
