BCAC is excited to announce a major advancement in our commitment to delivering exceptional care to our residents.
Earlier this year our business partnership with Ezymed transitioned from the Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) model to the Aged Care Onsite Pharmacist (ACOP) model. This means that an Ezymed pharmacist will now be physically onsite at Gillawarna and Yallambee Village two days a week, offering a variety of pharmaceutical services directly to the older people living in our communities.
The new ACOP model is designed to improve outcomes for both residents and staff, through:
- Improving medication use and safety by promoting the safe and appropriate use of high-risk medications
- Providing increased continuity in medication management through day-to-day review of medications and prompt issue resolution
- Providing easy access to pharmacist advice for residents and staff
- Integrating the on-site pharmacists with the healthcare team, including local general practitioners, nurses, allied health, and our community supply pharmacists
- Increasing our understanding of individual resident needs by putting the older people living in our communities, at the centre of informed decision making if they want this.
We are confident that this expanded partnership with Ezymed will further enhance the quality of care, ensuring that our residents needs are met safely and effectively.
